What Is Hyperopia?
Hyperopia, also known as longsightedness, is a refractive error where vision is clear at far distances but blur at near distances. Hyperopia is the “opposite” of myopia.
What Causes Hyperopia?
In hyperopic eyes, the eye ball is too short relative to the focusing power of the cornea and the lens of the eye. As a result, the light that is reflected off objects is focused behind the retina, rather than directly onto the retina.
What Are The Treatment Options For Hyperopia?
There are a number of treatments. Glasses and contact lenses provide temporary hyperopia correction. Refractive surgery like LASIK, ICL provide long-term correction.
